When Karen woke up she found
herself confined in a very small cage
where there was less than an inch in any
direction for her to move. Her captors had
used this same cage whenever they wished
to use immobility and confinement as a
punishment. She was not certain how long
it had been since her kidnapping, but her
heart pounded when she realized that she
was being moved out of the building she
had been held in. It was not clear to her
whether she should be alarmed or
encouraged by the change. It was
impossible to know exactly where she was
because the cage was covered with a dark
blanket.
As she tried to move her body to
ease the spasms and cramps that were
sending shots of pain through her limbs,
she thought back to the past months and
what had happened to her. Karen realized
that she probably would never be free
again and that her future would include

Over time her leverage would only
increase. In spite of her brains and early
potential Timothy had decided to take
steps to remove Karen from a life of
business, money, and freedom. Timothy also

together the 3 partners who had hit on

Mark stood back and thought to himself
that it will be hard to break her
confidence in her intelligence, but then
for him, that held great attraction.
On behalf of the partners, Timothy
presented a luxury vacation package so
that Karen could go diving off the coast
of Belize. It was one of her passions and
she accepted the gesture with enthusiasm.
Little did Karen know that she would never
see Belize for more than 5 hours.
The plan that had evolved was that
she would be abducted while everyone at
the resort would think she drown while
diving on her own. It was something that
Karen had done previously in spite of the
danger. Money was no object, but total
secrecy was critical. Karen's new owners
had too much to lose if somehow their plot
or abduction was revealed.
The actual kidnapping five days
later went according to plan. The resort
was staffed and occupied by men and women
who worked for either Mark or Timothy.
There would be no risk of discovery by an
innocent bystander. As expected, Karen
insisted that she should go diving for
just a brief while before dinner. The last
memory of Karen was a dive master arguing
with her about diving alone. The needle
with the tranquilizer knocked her out as
she was escorted around the bend in the
beach by the dive captain. As soon as she

the well-forested area where her new cage
was kept. The plan was that she would be
kept in the cage at this exact location
until the official "search" started and
the area was covered with boats and
helicopters. Under that guise she would be
transported back into the United States
and delivered to Mark's compound.
